We only stayed one night in Leona, but I really enjoyed talking to the folks who own this campground. They used to live near Grass Valley, California for 30 years (not far from Rocklin). The husband is half American Indian (Menemone). His mother is 104 and an elder in the tribe. His family is owed some Indian-reserved land near O'Hare airport in Chicago, by an old agreement. He is hoping to get the rights to build a casino on it.
I'm not sure if he built the knight that protects their campground, but I wouldn't put it past him. He and his wife have had lived many adventures over the years, including prospecting for gold and starting a campground from scratch.
Next we are on to Minneapolis, where we hope to have the RV looked at if possible. I want to have that grey tank looked at, and the fridge is acting up again, and the generator needs service.
