Mt. Shasta KOA
Mt. Shasta, California

Tuesday, September 27, 2005

We drove 370 miles from Portland all the way down into northern California today, stopping at the little town of Mt. Shasta, at the base of the big volcano. Here's Mt Shasta:

And it's little volcanic buddy, Black Butte, which is by its side:

Here's our site; we're just staying one night and leaving tomorrow for Sacramento:

They claim in our Woodall's book to have views of Mt. Shasta from here, but maybe the trees have gotten so tall they've obscured it.

After dinner, we bought ice cream at the campground office, and I guess Katie got all sugared up or something, because she was hyperactive and getting into lots of trouble all evening. Mark and I just kept looking at each other and shaking our heads. I think she jumped from every available surface (the couch, all the chairs, the bed, the dashboard). Maybe she really needs to run around. We'll get to Sacramento at a better time today, since we only have 200 miles to go today. Maybe there will be a good playground where we camp, at Cal Expo. And tomorrow, we'll go around and visit some of my friends who have little ones Katie's age.
